Privacy notice
This notice describes what this website collects, why, where it is kept and how to have it removed. It covers cato-standard.com only; the corporate site cato-chem.com has its own notice.
What is collected
- Enquiry form — the details you type: your name or company, email address, country, the product or CAS number you are asking about, the quantity and your message.
- Subscribe form — your email address only. There is no password and no account.
- COA lookup — the catalogue number you enter, so that the certificate can be returned.
- Aggregate visit statistics — page views and crawler counts are recorded under an anonymous key (no name, no email) to see which pages are used. Google Analytics (see below) is also loaded on the site.
Why it is collected
Enquiry details are used to answer the enquiry: to identify the compound, confirm feasibility and lead time, quote it, and issue the documents for the lot. Subscribe addresses are used only to send the updates described on the subscription page. Statistics are used to improve the catalogue pages.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Enquiry and subscription records are stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (KV storage and email delivery) and are read by CATO staff. Enquiry records are kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and any resulting order or documentation request; subscription addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Statistics stored under an anonymous key are retained as aggregate counts.
Cookies and third parties
- Google Analytics 4 — the site loads Google Analytics to count visits. It sets cookies and processes your IP address for Google. You can block it with a browser extension or by disabling cookies for this site; the catalogue works fully without it.
- Google Fonts — web fonts are loaded from Google's font service, which receives your IP address when the page loads. If it is unavailable, the site falls back to system fonts.
- Cloudflare — the site is served through Cloudflare, which processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, as described in Cloudflare's own privacy documentation.
- Data submitted through the forms is not sold, rented or shared for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, ask for corrections, or ask for it to be deleted — including removal from the subscription list, which can also be done by replying to any update with "unsubscribe".
