Semicarbazide is the marker residue formed from the veterinary antibacterial nitrofurazone, and Semicarbazide-13C,15N2 Hydrochloride is its carbon-13 and nitrogen-15 labelled analogue, supplied as the hydrochloride salt. Isotope labelling at both carbon and nitrogen gives the internal standard a distinct mass increment and, importantly, fragmentation behaviour that parallels the native analyte, which is the basis of reliable isotope-dilution determination.
