A member of the vitamin E family, D-beta-Tocotrienol is the naturally occurring beta isomer of the tocotrienols, distinguished from tocopherols by an unsaturated side chain. Its separation from the other tocopherol and tocotrienol homologues is analytically demanding, so an authentic single-isomer standard is required whenever the individual distribution of vitamin E vitamers is reported rather than a total content. Typical laboratory work covers HPLC and LC-MS/MS method development and validation, construction of calibration curves, recovery checks and identification of the beta tocotrienol peak in oils, foods and nutritional products.
