Pimecrolimus — impurities and related standards
All 3 Pimecrolimus-related compounds in the CATO catalogue, listed with their CAS numbers, molecular formulae and stock status. If the compound you need is not listed, send the structure or the impurity designation and we will check whether it can be synthesised or isolated.
Pimecrolimus is a macrolactam immunosuppressant of the ascomycin class, applied topically for the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions. It is produced through fermentation and subsequent chemical modification, so its impurity profile is composed of related macrolactam congeners derived from the fermentation broth, together with products of hydrolysis, oxidation and epimerisation at the sensitive centres of the molecule. Laboratories examining the drug substance or its topical formulations therefore require defined individual standards for the closely eluting components. The pimecrolimus entries here are non-compendial impurities offered as separate, structurally characterised lots for peak identification, related-substance testing and separation-method development.
